Old Maid is a classic Victorian card game designed for two to eight players, believed to have originated from an ancient gambling pastime where the loser had to pay for drinks. The game revolves around a card-passing mechanism, with each player aiming not to be left with the lone unmatched card—the Old Maid. Despite its historical roots, the game's straightforward nature has made it immensely popular among children aged 5 to 10 worldwide.

Known by different names in various countries such as Schwarzer Peter in Germany, Svarte Petter in Sweden, Musta Pekka in Finland (all translating to "black Peter"), and in France as le pouilleux ("the lousy/louse-ridden one") or vieux garçon ("old boy"), Old Maid has become a universal favorite.

Our version of the game offers a unique 41-card animal deck, including two cards for each of 20 different animals along with the distinctive Old Maid card, featuring authentic animal sounds for added engagement. We have tailored the game to be user-friendly for compact touch screen devices, ensuring an enjoyable experience for players of all ages.

How to Play Old Maid:

• Each player is dealt ten cards. If you have any matching pairs of cards, select both to discard them.
• During your turn, choose a card from the hand of the player on your right. If it forms a pair, eliminate both cards.
• The gameplay continues as players receive cards from their neighbors and remove any matching pairs until one player remains with the Old Maid card.
• The game concludes when one player holds the Witch (Old Maid) card, resulting in their defeat.
